Maid of Honor/Best Man Speech: What Not To Say
Getting the title of Maid of Honor or Best Man is exciting- but writing your speech could be tricky! Here is our advice on what to say, and what NOT to say when it’s time to make your toast!
Keep it short & sweet! Tell entertaining stories about your friendship with the Bride and/or Groom, but try to keep your speech around 5 minutes as to not lose your audience.
Poke fun- but don’t take it too far! You don’t want to leave anyone feeling embarrassed after your speech, so keep it light.
Don’t mention exes! This wedding is a new beginning, so avoid bringing up past relationships and keep the tone of your speech positive.
Steer clear of rough patches! It can be nice to reflect on what the couple has overcome together, but it’s best to focus on what’s to come on their special day.
Skip the adult humor! For everyone’s sake, leave jokes or stories about the newlywed’s private life out of your speech to avoid making anyone uncomfortable.
Plan ahead & take your time when writing your speech- you’ll do great!
